Hi, I’m Skylar. I grew up in the middle of the woods in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Raised in a log cabin, with the forest at my doorstep, I quickly learned our relationships with nature are bigger than ourselves, and deeper than we can understand.

I came to writing when I was 11 years old, spurred on by the depths and found edges of my imaginary world. At 17, I attended the University of Virginia where I got my bachelors of arts degrees in Creative Writing and Environmental Sustainability, knowing one does not exist without the other for me.

In my professional life, I’ve worked with environmental efforts including clean energy, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and extinction studies. I have also dedicated my life to humanitarian efforts and currently serve full time as the Grants Administrator at a humanitarian nonprofit in Virginia.
